1. CCPA. Antony Opondo – Founder and Managing Partner, Hawi & Associates, CPA(K)

Hawi & Associates is led by its founder, CCPA Antony Opondo who is a member of the institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK), Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya (ICPSK) and Information Systems Audit & Control Association (ISACA). He has more than 20 years of experience in Tax, Accounting, Auditing and Management.
CCPA Opondo graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance & Accounting from Kenya Methodist University (Kenya), a Master of Business Administration (Finance) from the University of Nairobi (Kenya) and currently pursuing a PhD in Finance from the University of Nairobi (Kenya). He also holds a Certificate in Applied Research from Strathmore University and several professional certifications in the line of Finance, Accounting, Tax, Governance, Management and Information Technology. He is a member of ICPAK, ICPSK and ISACA.
He has worked as an Accountant, Governance Audit Consultant, External Auditor, Independent Research and Management Consultant and has provided his services to various leading organizations both local and international. Antony also worked at the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) as a Senior Internal Auditor, Simba Tax Consulting Group Limited as a Lead Tax Consultant and Trainer, Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) Nairobi Branch as a Branch Treasurer. He has also consulted for a number of counties on development and reviewing of the revenue collection systems, resource mobilization and enforcement; and monitoring and evaluating expenditure and revenue trends. He participates in the ICPSK Champions of Governance (COG) Awards (2016 & 2017) as an accredited Governance Audit Consultant.

2. Dr. CPA. Elizabeth Kalunda-Muvui, PhD – Head; Corporate Finance, Accounting & Tax Advisory Services

Dr. Muvui is currently an Assistant Professor at the United States International University- Africa (USIU-A), in the Chandaria School of Business where she lectures finance and accounting units. She previously served at the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya in various positions as, Training manager, Head of Technical Training and Project Co-coordinator-World Bank-IDF. She has also served as the Associate Director at JMG Strategy Innovations Ltd in charge of Business Research. Dr. Muvui has been a lecturer at the Government Training Institute in Kenya and Dedan Kimathi University, Kenya. She possesses a Doctor of Philosophy and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Nairobi, Kenya and a Bachelor Of Education Degree from Moi University. Dr. Muvui also holds CPA (K) and is a member of ICPAK. She is a seasoned consultant, facilitator and researcher and has been involved in research in the area of Corporate Finance, corporate governance, corporate social reporting and banking outreach

  1. Dr. Nancy Nafula Mwange, PhD – Head; Public Policy, Research & Analysis
  2. Dr. Nafula graduated as an Economist from the University of Nairobi (Kenya) and holds an MSc Economics from the University of Nairobi (Kenya) and a doctorate in Economics (University of Nairobi, Kenya). She is a proficient data and research analyst/specialist with over 15 years’ experience in data collection, presentation and analysis. She has worked with local and international experts on research and matters of policy concern. Dr. Nafula has extensive knowledge in statistical analysis using various modeling techniques and advanced computing knowledge with excellent programming skills to analyze data in SPSS and STATA software among others. She has proven experience in developing policy relevant material for government policy makers and other private sector agents. She is a member of African Growth and Development Policy Modelling Consortium (AGRODEP), the Association for the Advancement of African Women’s Economists (AAAWE), and the Organization for Social Science Research in Eastern and Southern Africa (OSSREA). She is also a member of the African Impact Evaluation Network (AIEN), the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC) Research Network, the PEP-NET research network and is on the taskforce on poverty coordination in Kenya (Based at Poverty Eradication Commission) She has received various awards such as Research grant for impact evaluation study (IFPRI-2014), African Economic Research Consortium (AERC)-2010 Awarded research grant for PhD thesis support ,Poverty, Equity and Growth Network (PEGnet)-2009 Awarded research grant for PhD thesis support Research Fellowship (Year 2008-2009) Awarded the European Centre for Development Policy Management (ECDPM) research fellow-ship to study PhD in Public Policy & Policy Analysis – (Social Protection Track) at the Graduate School of Governance, University of Maastricht, The Netherlands ,Global Development Network (GDN) Prize (Year 2003) Won the second prize award in the Medals category, Pro-Market Reform and the Poor, paper entitled “The Decline in Primary School Enrolment in Kenya” with Bedi et al. She has authored and co-authored various papers, published reports, book chapters and journal publications

4. Mr. Stephen Isaac Khadondi – Head; Project Management, Resource Mapping and Resource mobilization

Mr. Khadondi graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics (Moi University, Kenya) and holds a Diploma in Project Management (DPM), an MSc Business Administration (Finance) from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT, Kenya and currently pursuing a Masters in Public Policy Analysis (Kenya School of Monetary Studies (KSMS), Kenya) with a project on: The Determinants of County own revenue collection in Kenya. He also holds several professional certifications in the line of government policy formulation for economic growth. He also holds a CPA certificate. He has worked as a part time lecturer at Moi and Maasai Mara Universities, is an Independent Research and Management Consultant and has provided his services to Family Health International (FHI), was a Lead Facilitator at Plan International, a Research Assistant at the African Research and Resource Forum (ARRF) in 2010. Stephen also worked at the Centre for Finance & Project Management Funyula Constituency Office, Parliamentary Service Commission, Ministry of planning and National Development, Strategic Public Relations and Research, and Research Solutions Ltd. Some of his achievements are participating in the development of strategic plans and Development plans (CIDPs) for Bomet County, Kericho County and Kajiado Counties, has contributed in the developments of the CRA first generation formula for Revenue Sharing 2012 and Contributed in the Development of the Policy on Marginalization 2012 among others.

5. Mr. Ray Odero Ouko – Head; Information Systems Audit (ISA) Services

Mr. Ouko is the team leader and responsible for the overall ISA, ICT and Technical Services Business at Hawi & Associates. He has over 10 years’ experience in both public and private sector specializing in Information Systems Audit, Business ICT Solutions, Research & Innovation and Software Development. He holds a Master’s Degree in IT (IT Security and Audit) from Strathmore University, a degree in Business Information Technology from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) Nairobi, Kenya. He also holds a CISA Certificate and CCNA 4. Mr. Ouko has successfully spearheaded a number of IT projects at NHIF, Micro City Computers, Mambo Software Nairobi and Nairobi West Hospital. He has hands on experience on System administration, IT service delivery, Technical and desktop support for Microsoft Windows operating systems (Xp,Vista,7,8,8.1), Experience in Management and administration of Business Information Technology infrastructure. He has also been involved in a number of IT Specialist assignments responsible for IT Risk Solutions and Software development and based in Nairobi. He is a member of ISACA.

6. CPA. Wycliffe Otieno Onudi – Head; Internal & External Audits

CPA Otieno graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mathematics and Economics from Moi University, Kenya, a Master of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Nairobi, Kenya and currently pursuing a PhD in Finance from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), Kenya. He also holds several professional certifications in the line of Accounting, Tax and Information Technology including CPA (K), CPS (K) and CISA. He is a member of ICPAK, ICPSK and ISACA. He has over 15 years of experience in Finance, Accounting, Tax, Auditing and overseeing the overall operations and programmes of the Audit services; continuous development and review of audit systems / plans for monitoring, evaluation and reporting of internal quality control systems for efficient running of operations. He is instrumental on formulation of risk assessment procedures and operations; developing and implementing audit programs and also oversee performance of post-audit reviews and actioning audit plans. He ensures preparation of timely and accurate audit reports while ensuring compliance with existing standards, regulations, instructions and procedures of financial and other operations.

7. CPA. Lucy Kerubo Amecha – Coordinator; Projects & Project Management Office

CPA Lucy graduated with a First Class Degree in Commerce from the Technical University of Kenya and currently pursuing her Master of Business Administration (Finance) from the University of Nairobi, Kenya. She holds CPA (K) and a member of ICPAK. Her experience working at Hawi & Associates that is very busy and keen on timely quality results to all her clients; has given CPA Lucy sufficient knowledge, experience and skills of all the procedures that make up an accounting system, client service management system and on effective problem solving. She is proficient in all popular accounting software like Quick Books, MS Excel, Pastel and ERPs and presentation programs like PowerPoint and is able to manage electronic scheduling and spreadsheets effectively. CPA Lucy’s ability to meet challenges and look for new innovated ways to resolve any issues that may arise, as well as working under pressure and to deliver quality results presents her as an all rounded and flexible person who can work alone and as part of a team.

She is responsible for the coordination of all the Finance, Accounting, Tax, Auditing, ICT and other consultancy requests in the firm.

8. CS. Sheila A. Yieke – Head; Legal, Governance & Policy

Ms. Sheila Yieke graduated with a Bachelor in International Law Degree from Nagpur University, INDIA. In the year 2015, she attained a Post Graduate Certificate in Mining from the University of Sydney. She also holds an MBA, Finance and Investment from the United States International University. She is an alumni of the International Development Law Organization (IDLO) and a member of the Law Society of Kenya as well as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya. She is also Member of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya (ICPSK), Director of the Kenya Female Advisory Organization-KENYA and Alumni Oxford University School of Government on Oil and Gas Governance. She has Over 22 years in Policy development in international, private, and public sectors. She has held several leadership positions in the legal field at Kenya Investment Authority, United Nations Office of Projects Services (UNOPS), and The Sotik Tea Company. Sheila’s achievements include acting as a Chief Legal Advisor to the Council of Governors. She has developed national policy touching on County Revenue Laws. In 2010, she was awarded the top 40 under 40 women in corporate sector in East Africa. She has published various papers which cover topics such as the Strategic Plan for the Commission on Revenue, mining resources procurement laws of Kenya, Revenue laws for the 47 counties and reviews of tourism in Kenya in relation to GAPS.
